What PEVA is
PEVA (polyethylene vinyl acetate) is a soft, flexible plastic sheet. Unlike PVC, it contains no chlorine, so it has no harsh plastic smell and does not stiffen or crack when folded. Water stays on the surface as droplets instead of soaking in, and the cover can be wiped with a damp cloth. This category is part of Dress and Suit Covers.
Models in this category
Semi-transparent PEVA cover with full zipper: semi-transparent white or black, 60 cm wide in lengths of 80, 100, 120 and 140 cm. You can see the garment's color and cut without opening it.
White PEVA cover 60×180 cm: full-length zipper, black trim along the edges and two handles on the back for carrying it folded, for evening dresses, suits and long coats.

When to choose PEVA
Transport and travel: a garment traveling by car, public transport or plane, especially on a rainy day.
Handover to the customer: a dress leaving the salon or dressmaker arrives dry and clean.
Shop, studio and productions: garments hanging near an ironing, steaming or work area, and a cover that wipes clean easily after repeated use.
Quick identification: in the semi-transparent cover you see the garment at a glance, which is handy in a home closet and in a costume department.
Short-term hanging: garments worn every few weeks.
When non-woven is better
PEVA does not breathe. For storage of months and years, especially of a wedding dress or silk, wool or cotton garments in a closed closet during a humid season, a non-woven garment cover, which lets air through, is better. You can also combine them: a PEVA cover for the road and a non-woven cover for the closet.
PEVA, PVC and plastic bags: the differences
PEVA: flexible, chlorine-free, water-repellent and reusable, with a zipper and, in some models, handles.
PVC: a stiffer sheet that contains chlorine, usually with a strong plastic smell.
PE plastic bag: a thin layer without a zipper, for short-term dust protection at handover. See clear plastic bags for garments on hangers.
How to use a PEVA cover properly
Close the cover only over a completely dry garment. After steam ironing or cleaning, let the garment hang in the open air for about half an hour before closing it.
Measure from the top of the hanger to the hem and choose a cover at least 10 cm longer. For a maxi dress, choose 180 cm.
Keep it away from heat: do not hang it right next to a water heater, an oven or a sunny window.
Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, without a washing machine and without heat drying.
When a garment stays in the cover for a few weeks, open the zipper from time to time for an hour or two, especially in humid months.
PEVA covers for businesses
Bridal salons, rental shops, designers, stylists and costume departments use PEVA to move garments between locations, and the two colors help separate ready garments from garments on hold. Frequently asked questions
What is PEVA and how is it different from PVC?
PEVA is polyethylene vinyl acetate, a soft and flexible plastic sheet. Unlike PVC it contains no chlorine, has no harsh smell and does not stiffen or crack when folded. It repels water and wipes clean easily, which is why it is common in garment covers for travel and handover.
Can you see the garment through a semi-transparent PEVA cover?
Yes. In the white semi-transparent version you can clearly see the garment's color and cut, which is handy in a home closet and in a shop where items need to be pulled quickly. The black version conceals more and looks neat on a rack and at handover. Details: semi-transparent PEVA cover with full zipper.
Which PEVA cover suits a long evening dress?
A maxi dress or long evening dress needs a 180 cm cover: the white cover with black trim or the opaque black cover, both with a full zipper and two handles. A dress up to about 165 cm long fits comfortably. For a full dress with petticoats, a gusseted cover from Bridal and Evening Dress Covers is better.
How do I clean a PEVA cover?
Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap and let it air dry. Do not put it in a washing machine, do not dry it with heat and do not hang it right next to a water heater, an oven or a sunny window, because PEVA is sensitive to high heat.
Why does the black PEVA cover have a clear pocket on the front?
The pocket holds a card with the customer's name, size, delivery date or a description of the garment, so you can identify it without opening the zipper. This matters especially in an opaque black cover, which hides the garment completely and keeps wedding dresses and made-to-order garments discreet.
