Product description

One garment cover for closet storage and carrying on the go

Most garment covers do one job: they protect the garment while it hangs in the closet. This cover does a second job too. Hanging, it opens to a full length of 180 cm, enough for a long evening dress, a long coat or a suit with trousers. When you leave the house, you fold it in half and it becomes a 60×90 cm bag with two carrying handles. The garment stays hanging on its hanger inside the cover, and doesn't get crushed at the bottom of a bag or in the trunk of a car.

The cover is made of Non-Woven fabric, a breathable non-woven material that lets air and moisture pass through while blocking dust and dirt. This makes it suitable for long-term storage as well, unlike the plastic bag you got from the dry cleaner. The black color also blocks light, and light is one of the factors that fades the colors of delicate fabrics over time. The zipper opens along the entire length of the cover, so you can put the garment in and take it out without pulling it and without creasing the hem. At the top there is an opening designed for the hanger, so the garment hangs in the closet neatly like any other garment.

Common uses

  • Storing evening dresses and wedding dresses that are not especially voluminous, between events

  • Transporting a garment to an event by car, public transport or on a flight, hanging and folded in half

  • Handing a garment to a client at a design studio or a seamstress, in neat, clean packaging

  • Seasonal storage of long coats, suits and evening wear that you don't wear all year

  • Protecting rental items between customers, in dress rental salons

Who the cover is for

Designers, seamstresses and tailors

A dress that leaves the studio in a uniform black cover looks professional even before the zipper is opened. The carrying handles let the client take the garment herself, without a plastic bag that tears on the way.

Salons, fashion stores and dry cleaners

Stores that hand over long garments every day need a cover they can order in quantity and receive identical every time. The cover is sold per piece and also in wholesale orders. For large quantities, contact us by phone or WhatsApp.

For home and travel

For a dress from a family event, a suit you wear twice a year, or a garment that needs to arrive at a wedding abroad without wrinkles.

Professional tips

  • Measure before you put it in. Measure the garment from the tip of the hanger hook to the hem of the dress. It's worth leaving about 10 to 15 cm of clearance at the bottom so the hem doesn't fold up. In a 180 cm cover, a garment up to about 165 cm long will fit comfortably.

  • Hang on a wide hanger. A hanger with wide shoulders preserves the shoulder line of a dress or jacket even after months of storage.

  • Put only a clean, dry garment in the cover. A stain left on the fabric sets over time, and moisture left in the garment won't escape even through a breathable fabric.

  • Fold at the midline. Before carrying, close the zipper all the way and fold the cover in half with the garment hanging inside. This way the fold forms in the cover fabric and not on the front of the dress.

  • Give the garment room in the closet. A breathable cover works better when it isn't squeezed between ten other garments.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving a garment in the dry cleaner's plastic bag. Plastic doesn't breathe and traps moisture. In Israel's humid months this leads to a musty smell, stains and yellowing of light-colored fabrics.

  • Choosing a cover by length alone. This cover is flat, with no side depth. For a voluminous wedding dress with layers of tulle or a very wide skirt, a cover with depth is more suitable. Compare the models in the Dress and suit covers category.

  • Carrying an overloaded cover. Two heavy garments in one cover put a strain on the handles and the zipper. One cover for one long garment protects both.

  • Storing near a window or heat source. Even in a black cover, a shaded, dry place is better.

How this model differs from our other covers

This is the only cover in the 180 cm series that folds into a carrying bag with handles. Covers with a clear window let you identify the garment without opening it, and covers with side depth are designed for voluminous dresses. Here the advantage is the combination of long storage and convenient carrying, in a light-blocking opaque fabric.

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of the foldable garment cover?

The cover is 60 cm wide and 180 cm long when open. When folded in half for carrying it reaches a size of 60×90 cm. The length suits a garment up to about 165 cm long from the hanger hook to the hem, with a clearance of 10 to 15 cm at the bottom.

What is the cover made of, and why is it better than nylon?

The cover is made of non-woven (Non-Woven) fabric, which lets air and vapor pass through and blocks dust. Nylon traps moisture, and over several months of storage the moisture may cause a musty smell, stains and yellowing. Black non-woven also blocks light, so it protects the colors of the fabric better.

How do I use the cover for carrying?

Hang the garment on a hanger, put it into the cover through the zipper and pull the hanger hook out of the top opening. Then close the zipper all the way, fold the cover in half and hold it by both handles. The garment stays hanging inside and does not get crushed.

Is the cover suitable for a wedding gown?

Yes, for a wedding gown in a fitted, straight or slightly flared cut. The cover is flat and has no side gusset, so it isn't suitable for a puffy wedding gown with tulle layers or a very wide skirt. For such a gown, a cover with a gusset is better, and you will find it in our Dress and Suit Covers category.

Can the cover be ordered in quantity for a store or a studio?

Yes. The cover is sold per unit and also in wholesale orders for bridal salons, fashion stores, laundries, designers and seamstresses. To order quantities, contact us by phone at 03-9444226, on WhatsApp at 055-2473993 or by email at habayt.labuvot@gmail.com.

How do I fold the cover for carrying?

Close the zipper, fold the cover in half and carry it by the handles. Folded, the dimensions are about 60×90 cm, so it is easy to put in a car or carry by hand.

Which garments suit a 180 cm long cover?

Evening gowns, long dresses, suits and long coats. The cover is flat, so it suits a single garment in a narrow cut.

Can I fly with the garment in the cover?

Yes. The cover protects the garment on the way. Before the flight, check with the airline whether you can take it into the cabin, because the rules vary between airlines.

Black or white cover?

Black does not show dirt and suits suits and dark evening wear. White gives a bright look and suits bridal salons and light-colored dresses.

How do you store a garment in a cover for a long time?

Put only a clean, dry garment into the cover, because stains that weren't cleaned yellow over time. Hang the cover in a cool, dry, dark closet, and avoid an attic, a basement and proximity to a heat source. It's best to leave a gap between covers in the closet.
