Product description

Short, delicate glass pins for sewing and pattern making

Prym sewing pins, 30 mm long and 0.60 mm thick, with a white, round glass head. The body is made of hardened steel and the tip is thin and sharp, so the pin passes through the fabric easily and leaves a small hole. According to the manufacturer, the glass head is heat-resistant, so you can iron a folded or pinned pleat without the head melting. Packaging: 10 grams of pins in a clear plastic box with a lid.

Common uses

  • Attaching cutout parts before sewing, especially in thin and medium fabrics.

  • Marking pleats, hems and openings before ironing.

  • We will stick to a mannequin during measurement and fitting.

  • Working on small parts: collars, cuffs, pockets and repairs.

  • Patchwork and small handicrafts.

Who is this suitable for?

Home seamstresses, tailors and clothing repairers, fashion students and designers working on a mannequin. The short length is especially convenient for small parts, where a long pin would get in the way. For wholesale orders for a studio, school or store: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.

Professional tips

  • Insert the pin perpendicular to the seam line, with the head facing outward. This way, you can easily pull it out before the needle arrives.

  • In delicate fabrics like silk and chiffon, tuck the seam allowance inside so that the hole is not visible.

  • A white head stands out on dark fabric. When working on white or light fabric, count the pins before and after so that no pin is left in the garment.

  • Store the pins in a closed box and in a dry place.

Common mistakes

  • Machine sewing over a pin. The needle may damage the pin and break.

  • A short pin in thick fabric or in several layers. A longer, thicker pin is preferable there.

  • Returning a bent pin to the box, instead of taking it out of use.

How is this model different?

This is the shortest and thinnest pin among our white glass head pins. For thick fabrics, quilting and multiple layers there is a longer and thicker version: 48×0.80 mm in a 30 g package. Pins with colored heads are found in pearl head pins and inlaid head pins , and all steel pins are concentrated in steel sewing pins .

Frequently asked questions

What is the length and thickness of the pins?

Length 30 mm and thickness 0.60 mm.

Can I iron with the pins in the fabric?

Yes. According to the manufacturer, the glass head is heat-resistant and will not melt when ironed. It is best not to iron directly over the pin, so as not to leave a mark on the fabric.

What material are the pins made of?

The body is made of hardened steel and the head is made of glass.

How many pins are in the box?

The box is sold by weight: 10 grams of pins.

What is the difference between a glass head and a plastic pearl head?

A glass head is heat-resistant and can be ironed next to it. A plastic pearl head may melt or warp when in contact with a hot iron.

What fabrics are the pins suitable for?

For thin and medium fabrics: cotton, viscose, fine linen, silk and chiffon. For thick fabrics and multiple layers, a 48 mm pin is preferable.

Can they be stuck in a mannequin?

Yes. In a mannequin with a cover that is designed to be pinned, the pin goes through the fabric and gets caught in the cover.

What is the difference between them and the 48mm glass pins?

These are shorter and thinner, 30×0.60 mm, and are suitable for delicate work. 48×0.80 mm pins are long and thick, for thick fabrics, several layers, and quilting.

Can I machine sew over the pins?

It's not worth it. The needle could damage the pin and break. Pull out each pin just before the needle reaches it.

Can I order a quantity for the studio or store?

Yes. Phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
