Product description
Fabric scissors, 26 cm long: for long cuts and thick fabrics
Our longest model from the PERFECTION series by D.PERES SOLINGEN: scissors with a total length of 26 cm and large black handles. The long blade covers a wide stretch with each closing, and suits cutting thick fabrics, folded layers and large patterns of coats, long dresses and curtains.
The scissors are made in Solingen, Germany, with strong steel blades and a central screw joint. The wide handles spread the force across the palm and make long cutting of heavy fabrics easier.
How this model differs from our similar models
PERFECTION 26 cm (the model on this page): The longest in the series, for thick fabrics and layers
PERFECTION 24 cm with red handles: 2 cm shorter and lighter in the hand

Tailor's shears with gold handles, 30 cm: A 20 cm blade for many layers
Common uses
Cutting wool, denim, canvas and coat fabrics
Cutting two layers of folded fabric
Large patterns for dresses and coats
Curtains, tablecloths and upholstery
Straightening long fabric edges
Who the scissors are for

Fashion design studios: For cutting samples from different fabrics
Upholstery and home textile sewists: For long lines and heavy fabrics

Tips for cutting thick fabrics
Close with the whole hand: In thick fabrics, put all your fingers into the lower handle
Make sure the layers don't shift: Hold them with pins or weights before cutting
Don't stack too many: Too many layers bend the line and load the screw
A little oil on the screw now and then: A drop of sewing machine oil keeps the movement smooth
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Long scissors for small details: For corners and notches, shorter scissors are more comfortable
Cutting paper: Dulls the long blade
Open storage in a drawer: The tips get damaged. Return them to the packaging closed
How to hold tailor's shears correctly
A correct grip makes the difference between an accurate cut and a broken line and a tired hand:
Thumb in the small hole: and two or three fingers in the large hole. The index finger can support from the outside
The lower blade on the table: Don't lift the fabric. The blade glides on the table and the fabric stays flat
Open wide: and close almost to the tip, to use the whole length of the blade
The body moves, not the fabric: Move around the table instead of turning the fabric
In long scissors like this model, the correct grip matters especially, because they are heavier and cut a long stretch with each closing.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the length of the scissors?
The total length is 26 cm.
Which fabrics are 26 cm scissors suitable for?
Thick fabrics such as wool, jeans and canvas, two layers of folded fabric and long cuts for coats, dresses and curtains.
Where are the scissors made?
In Solingen, Germany, in the PERFECTION series by D.PERES SOLINGEN.
Are long scissors suitable for a beginner seamstress?
For a beginner seamstress it's more comfortable to start with a length of 23 to 24 cm. 26 cm suits someone who cuts a lot of thick fabrics and large patterns.
How do I keep the scissors sharp?
Cut only fabric with them, keep them closed in the packaging, clean lint from the screw and add a drop of machine oil from time to time.
What is the difference between the 26 cm model and the 24 cm model?
Both are from the D.PERES PERFECTION series. The 26 cm model with black handles is the longest in the series and suits thick fabrics and layers; the 24 cm model with red handles is 2 cm shorter and lighter in the hand.
What does the SOLINGEN marking mean?
Solingen is a city in Germany associated with the manufacture of scissors and knives. The name is protected by German law, and only products whose main production takes place in the city's area may carry it.
Are the scissors suitable for left-handed users?
The model is built for the right hand. Someone who cuts with the left hand will prefer dedicated left-handed scissors, in which the blade order is reversed.
Can pattern paper be cut with them?
Not recommended. Paper dulls the blade faster than fabric. It's worth keeping a separate pair for paper and keeping the fabric scissors for fabric only.
Can I order a quantity for a workshop or a store?
Yes. For bulk orders of D.PERES scissors you can contact us.
