Product description
22.5 cm lightweight scissors: a longer blade for cutting fabric, with a protective cover
Lightweight sewing scissors with an overall length of 22.5 cm (9 inches), with stainless steel blades and plastic handles. The longer blade than in the 8-inch model lets you cut fabric in longer closings, and still the scissors are light in weight and comfortable for prolonged operation.
A plastic protective cover in the color of the handles closes over the blades and protects the tips when the scissors are in a bag or drawer. A metal joining screw holds the blades, and the scissors come in two colors: pink and light blue.
How this model differs from our similar models
Lightweight 9-inch scissors (the model on this page): 22.5 cm, a longer blade for cutting fabric
Lightweight 8-inch scissors from the same series: 20.3 cm, more compact for a bag
Lightweight scissors in three colors: with protective cover, light blue, turquoise and black
Common uses
Cutting fabric and small and medium patterns
Home sewing and repairs
Sewing and craft classes
Paper, handwork and light fabrics
A travel sewing bag
Who the scissors are for
Home seamstresses: a main pair of scissors for fabric and repairs
Sewing classes: equipment for students, with a protective cover for safety
Crafters and teachers: for fabric, paper and thin cardboard
Tips for use and care
One pair for fabric and one pair for paper: the two colors make it easy to mark which pair is for fabric only
Cover always closed: this way the edge stays sharp and the bag doesn't tear
Cleaning near the screw: lint and adhesive residue hamper the movement
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Using them for thick cardboard and hard plastic: this dulls the blades and loosens the joint
Putting in a bag without the cover: the edge is damaged and may tear fabric in the bag
Lifting the fabric while cutting: the line comes out not straight. Cut with the fabric lying on the table
8 or 9 inches: which length to choose
The two models are identical in structure, cover and colors, and the difference is in length:
9 inches (22.5 cm), this model: a longer blade that cuts a larger stretch with each closing. Suits cutting whole patterns and long lines
8 inches (20.3 cm): light and easier to control in curves, and suits small hands and a compact sewing bag
How to decide: someone who mostly cuts garment patterns will choose 9 inches. Someone who needs scissors for a class, for repairs and for carrying will choose 8 inches
