Product description

Coil housing for a home machine: when the bottom seam stops being uniform

In many home sewing machines, the coil does not enter directly into the machine, but into a metal coil housing that is pulled out from the front. The coil housing holds the coil on a central axis, and with the help of a spring and a small screw, it determines the tension of the bottom thread. Over the years, the coil housing can be scratched, the spring deformes, and the machine begins to make loops, tear thread, or sew loose seam. In many cases, replacing the coil housing returns the machine to sew properly.

This coil housing is made of metal with a silver finish, with a long locking handle. Pull the handle, and the coil housing comes out of the machine with the coil remaining locked inside and not falling off. Inside there is a round bracket with a center axis on which the coil sits, and on the side there is a tension spring with a directional screw.

What's in it

  • Long locking handle: to take out and insert the coil housing, and the coil stays inside.
  • Coil Bracket with Center Spindle: Holds the coil straight and allows it to rotate freely.
  • Tension spring and directional screw: towards the tension direction of the bottom wire.
  • Silver Finish Metal: Precise construction for smooth workmanship.

Common Uses

  • Replacing a coil housing that has been scratched, cracked, or whose spring has deformed.
  • Extra coil housing, with pre-directed tension for thick wire or tissue wire.
  • Completing a lost part in an old machine or a machine that was bought second-hand.

Who is it suitable for

For seamstresses and seamstresses with a home sewing machine in which the reel housing is pulled out from the front, for repair shops and sewing machine technicians, and for sewing classes and schools that maintain several machines. In machines where the coil is placed on top, inside the machine, there is usually no removable reel housing, so it is not suitable for them.

Pro Tips

  • Before buying: Compare the existing coil housing: shape, height, shape of the handle and spring. You can send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will help identify it.
  • Inserting the coil: Place the coil on the spindle so that the wire comes out in the direction indicated in the instruction book, and pass it under the tension spring until it enters the slot.
  • Simple tension test: Hold the coil housing by wire and shake slightly. It should drop slowly. Falls too fast: The voltage is weak. Does not move: The voltage is strong.
  • Direction: Turn the screw a quarter of a turn at a time, and test on a piece of fabric.

Common mistakes

  • Insert without hearing a lock: A coil housing that is not locked all the way causes noise, needles to break, and damage to the kidnapper.
  • Using an inappropriate coil: A new coil housing will also not work well with a coil at the wrong height or material.
  • Lubrication inside the coil housing: Oil inside the coil housing reaches the wire and felt. Grease only the dots that appear in the instruction book.

How is it different from the industrial coil house on site?

There is also a reel house for an industrial sewing machine on site. It is a reel house for household machines, with a long locking handle, and they do not replace each other. Next to it are metal coils and plastic coils for household machines in the category of coils and coil housings.
