Product description
ORGAN universal needles, size 90/14
Home sewing machine needles by ORGAN, a Japanese needle manufacturer from the city of Ueda in Nagano Prefecture. The needles are system 130/705H with a universal point, slightly rounded and suitable for most woven fabrics. The pack contains 5 needles in size 90/14. This is a medium-thick size, for medium and heavy fabrics.
The needle system: does it fit your machine
System 130/705H, also called HAx1 or 15x1, is the system of most home sewing machines: Singer, Brother, Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Toyota, home Juki and more. The needle shank has a flat side, which in most machines faces the back, so the needle cannot be inserted the wrong way round. Industrial machines use other systems, such as DBx1, so these needles do not fit them. Home overlockers and coverstitch machines sometimes use a special version of the system, so check the machine manual.
Common uses
Sewing linen, gabardine, light wool and corduroy.
Curtains, tablecloths and home fabrics of medium thickness.
Sewing two or three layers of medium fabric.
Topstitching with regular thread on medium fabric.
Who it is for
Home seamstresses, alteration shops, fashion students, and anyone sewing clothes and home textiles from medium fabrics. For wholesale orders: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
Professional tips
Sew a few centimeters on a scrap of the same fabric before starting, and check the seam from both sides.
Match the thread to the needle: the thread should pass freely through the eye and the groove along the needle.
Return used needles to a separate compartment in the pack, and do not mix them with new ones.
Common mistakes
Sewing with the same needle for many months. A dull needle pulls threads and skips stitches.
Using a universal needle on thin, stretchy knit fabric. For such fabrics a ballpoint needle is suitable.
Sewing over pins. The needle hits the pin and breaks or bends.
How to choose a size
The first number is the needle thickness in hundredths of a millimeter, and the second is the American number. The higher the number, the thicker the needle and the heavier the fabric it suits:
70/10: thin fabrics: chiffon, organza, silk, lining and thin cotton.
80/12: light and medium fabrics: cotton, poplin, viscose, crepe and bed linen. The range for most jobs.
90/14: medium and heavy fabrics: linen, gabardine, light wool, corduroy and curtain fabrics.
100/16: heavy fabrics: denim, canvas, upholstery fabrics, coats and thick layers.
You can find all ORGAN sizes, and needles for knit fabrics, in home sewing machine needles. A full needle selection guide is in needles.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the size of the needles?
90/14: thickness 0.90 mm. Suitable for medium and heavy fabrics.
Which fabrics is a 90/14 needle suitable for?
For linen, gabardine, light wool, corduroy, curtain fabrics and tablecloths.
Is a 90/14 needle suitable for denim?
For thin denim or a short repair, yes. For thick denim and several layers, a 100/16 needle is better.
What is the difference between 90/14 and 80/12?
90/14 is thicker and suits medium and heavy fabrics. 80/12 is finer and suits cotton and light fabrics.
What does a universal point mean?
A slightly rounded point. It pierces most woven fabrics, and also suits some thick knit fabrics.
Which machines are the needles suitable for?
Most home sewing machines that work with the 130/705H system (HAx1 or 15x1): Singer, Brother, Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Toyota and more. They are not suitable for industrial machines.
How many needles come in the pack?
5 needles per pack.
How often should I change a sewing machine needle?
At the start of every project, whenever you switch to a different type of fabric, and right after the needle has hit a pin, zipper or button. A click with every stitch, skipped stitches or breaking thread are signs that the needle is dull.
How do you insert a needle into a home machine?
Lower the presser foot, raise the needle to its highest point and loosen the clamp screw. Insert the needle all the way, with the flat side of the shank facing the back in most machines, and tighten the screw.
Can I buy a quantity for a business or a school?
Yes. For wholesale orders: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
