Product description
Tailor's shears 25 cm long: the large model in the PRYM Professional series
Tailor's shears from the PRYM Professional series, 25 cm in total length. This is the large model in the series, and it is made for PRYM by Japan's KAI, a long-established maker of professional blades. The blades are made of stainless steel, and the purple handle is built with soft inner rings that reduce pressure on the fingers in long cutting.
The handle is raised relative to the blade, so the lower blade stays flush to the table and the fabric doesn't lift during cutting. The length is especially suited to cutting long stretches of fabric and straight lines of a whole pattern. The scissors are intended for the right hand.
How this model differs from our similar models

Tips for cutting with long scissors
The lower blade on the table: Glide forward without lifting the fabric, so the pattern doesn't shift
Close to about two thirds: Continue before the tips close, and the line stays continuous without steps
Fabric only: Paper and hard materials dull the blade
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Cutting small details with a long blade: For corners and notches a small pair is more comfortable
Dropping on the floor: Damages the alignment of the blades and the closing at the tip
Leaving in a damp environment: Wipe and store dry and closed
21 or 25 cm: how to choose a length in tailor's shears
The length of the scissors determines how much fabric is cut with each closing and how much control you have on curves. Scissors of 25 cm cut a long stretch with each motion, so they suit whole patterns, long straight lines and fabric cut in two layers. Scissors of 21 cm are lighter and convenient at necklines, armholes and corners.
25 cm: Dresses, coats, curtains and fabrics at full width
21 cm: Children's clothes, curves and patterns with many details
Small hand: It is worth starting with the shorter length, because long scissors are heavier in extended work
In studios and workshops it is customary to keep both lengths: the long one for cutting the pattern and the short one for details.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the length of the scissors?
The total length is 25 cm. This is the long model in PRYM's Professional series.
Who makes the scissors?
The scissors are marketed under the PRYM brand and are manufactured for it by KAI, a Japanese manufacturer of professional blades.
What are the blades made of?
The blades are made of stainless steel, and the handle is plastic with soft inner rings.
Are the scissors suitable for left-handed users?
No. This model is intended for the right hand. The series includes a 21 cm model built specifically for the left hand.
Which fabrics are they suitable for?
Most garment fabrics: cotton, linen, denim, wool, and also delicate fabrics such as silk and jersey.
What is the difference between the 25 cm model and the 21 cm model?
The 25 cm model is longer and suits long pieces of fabric and large patterns. The 21 cm model is lighter and more comfortable for controlling curves.
Why is the handle raised?
That way the bottom blade stays flat against the table while cutting, and the fabric does not lift and shift.
What is the difference between tailor's shears and regular scissors?
Tailor's shears have a longer blade and a raised handle, so the bottom blade stays on the table and the fabric does not lift. They are intended for fabric only, because cutting paper wears down the cutting edge.
Can PRYM scissors be sharpened?
Yes, by a professional sharpener who is familiar with fabric scissors. Between sharpenings, keep them sharp by cutting only fabric with them, wipe the blade and store them closed.
Can I order a quantity for a studio or a school?
Yes. For bulk orders you can contact us.
