Ballpoint Needles for Jersey and Knit Fabrics, Size 90/14
Home sewing machine needles with a ballpoint tip, for thick knit fabrics: fleece, sweatshirt fabric, interlock and thick jersey. The rounded tip pushes the fabric loops aside instead of piercing and tearing them, so there are no tiny holes along the seam and no skipped stitches. Each pack has 5 needles in size 90/14, with a gold-colored shank.
When to choose 90/14 rather than 80/12
80/12 suits light and medium knits, such as jersey for T-shirts. 90/14 is thicker and suits heavy knits, several layers of knit fabric and seams sewn with thicker thread. For fabrics with a lot of elastane, such as swimwear, there are also stretch needles.

Use a narrow zigzag or a stretch stitch so the seam stretches with the fabric.
Don't pull the fabric while sewing.
Polyester thread is more flexible than cotton thread and suits knit fabric.
Common mistakes
Sewing thick fleece with a fine universal needle. It causes holes and skipped stitches.
A long straight stitch on stretch fabric. The seam breaks.
