Compact sampling and image bar 15×20 cm

A transparent palm-sized cut bar, which concentrates in one part the lines your image needs when working on details: a straight line with a scale, a straight angle, a rounded edge to the side line and the hem, and a drop-shaped opening to draw an armpit and neckline. The marking is red, in centimeters and millimeters, and is well visible on white cut-out paper and light fabric.

The shape is built like the large image bars used in the fashion industry, with a small size: a top width of 15 cm and a length of 20 cm.

The parts of the bar

• An upper scale of 15 cm and avertical scale of 20 cm, which meet at a right angle.

• An opening in the shape of a drop, to draw curves of the armpits and neckline.

• Another curved opening at the bottom, for wider curves.

• A rounded side end, a side line between the waist and the thigh, and a rounded hem.

• Parallel lines and angled lines along the vertical scale, for marking seam addition and angles.

Pro Tips

• For the armpit, first mark the end point of the shoulder and the point of the side line. Then rotate the ruler until the curve of the opening of the drop passes through the two points, and draw.

• When one curve is not enough, draw a section, move the ruler so that the curve continues the line without breaking, and continue.

• To add a seam along a curve, mark a few points at a fixed distance from the seam line according to the scale, and connect them with the rounded edge.

• For long lines, it is combined with a long straight bar: the long bar for the lines, and the compact one for curves and corners.

Common mistakes

• Expect a small bar to replace a large image bar with an adult's figure. In long lines, every slide adds a deviation.

• Drawing a curve "in parts" with breakages in transition. Curve of an armpit should be continuous.

• Cut with a round knife along the ruler. The blade cuts the edge.

• Leaving the ruler near a hot iron. Brown twisted transparent plastic.

How this bar is different

This is the smallest bar in the curve bars on the site: 15×20 cm, for details and short curves.
