Female display mannequins by the part of the body the garment covers
Choose a display mannequin according to the garment it will show, not according to how it looks. A bra needs a bust and shoulders, bike shorts need a thigh, and a fitted dress needs a continuous line from shoulder to thigh. That's why the models in this category are organised by body area, with full measurements listed for each one.
Full-body female torso to the thighs
The torso covers the body from the base of the neck to mid-thigh, so the garment is shown in one continuous line: a one-piece swimsuit, a bodysuit, a mini dress, a lingerie set and sportswear sets. There are two cuts: a torso with an average figure (height 83 cm, bust 88, waist 68, hips 97 cm) for clothing in sizes 36 to 38, and Lady Lean with a slim, elongated figure (height 89 cm, bust 85, waist 65, hips 89 cm) for fitted clothing in sizes 34 to 36. Both come in a matte white finish and stand on their own on a surface, with no pole and no base.
Upper torso: bust, shoulders and neck
A half body 46 cm tall, with a shoulder width of 41 cm and a bust circumference of 83 cm. It suits bras, bikini tops, tank tops and tops, and thanks to the neckline also necklaces and scarves. It takes up little space on a counter, a shelf or by the checkout.
Lower body with thighs, and display hips
For items that end at the thigh, such as bike shorts, shorts, women's boxers and swim shorts, a lower-body form covering the body from the waist to mid-thigh is the right fit (height 46 cm, hip circumference 90 cm). For underwear, bikini bottoms and sports briefs, a short display hip form is enough (height 38 cm, hip circumference 79 cm), in a natural skin tone or matte pink.
Female mannequins on a stand
A mannequin that stands on the floor, at a shop entrance or in a shop window, needs a height-adjustable pole. This category includes an anatomical skin-tone mannequin on a metal stand. Its body continues to mid-thigh in an hourglass silhouette (bust 97, waist 60, hips 107 cm). There is also a cream fabric form on a wooden stand in size S/M, used both for display and for light studio work.
How to choose a female display mannequin
Matching the size
Compare the mannequin's bust, waist and hip measurements with the sizes of the clothing it will display. On a mannequin that is too large the garment stretches and the seams shift to the sides; on one that is too small it looks baggy. Most shops display the sample size, usually S or M, and pin the excess fabric at the back with a clear clip so the front line stays clean. A shop selling mainly small sizes is best served by a slim cut, and a shop with a diverse clientele by an average cut.
Matte white or skin tone
Matte white: neutral and clean, and doesn't reflect shop lighting or a camera flash. Suits fashion, knitwear and bold colours.
Natural skin tone: resembles skin, so it suits lace, mesh, semi-sheer fabrics and nude-coloured items. Against a white or coloured background, the shade of such items changes.
Freestanding or on a stand
A torso without a pole stands on a counter, a shelf, a platform or a display table, and is easy to move when you change the display. A mannequin on an adjustable stand stands on the floor and can be set so the bust line is at the customer's eye level. A short torso looks especially good on a surface about 90 to 110 cm high.
Material and care
Most of the display mannequins in this category are made of rigid plastic or rigid foamed plastic. The material is light to lift and holds its shape, making it ideal for frequent display changes, exhibitions and photography. Fibreglass mannequins are heavier and are mostly found in full-body mannequins with a head and arms. A soft, damp cloth is all you need for cleaning – no abrasives or solvents – and it's best to keep the mannequin out of prolonged direct sunlight.
Display mannequin or dress form
A display mannequin is made of a rigid material and is designed to show a finished garment; you don't stick pins into it. A dress form is covered in fabric, so you can pin into it, drape patterns on it and check the fit while sewing. Designers and dressmakers who work on the garment itself will find the right models under women's dress forms. Fixed and adjustable sizes are explained in the guide to choosing a dress form.
Who these display mannequins are for
Lingerie and swimwear shops: an upper torso next to a display hip form shows a complete set, even when each piece is sold separately.
Women's fashion boutiques: a full-body torso for short dresses, bodysuits and fitted knitwear, on a shelf or in the shop window.
Sports and athleisure shops: a lower-body form with thighs shows bike shorts and short leggings at their full length.
Online shops and product photographers: shoot the whole collection without a model, from the same angle and with the same silhouette.
Designers, markets and exhibitions: lightweight models that fit in a car and stand without any extra fixture.

Frequently asked questions
Which display mannequin suits underwear and swimwear?
For bras and the top of a bikini, an upper torso is suitable, and for underwear and bikini bottoms a display hip form is suitable. For a one-piece swimsuit, a bodysuit or a full set, a full-body torso down to the hips is better, which also shows the height of the cut at the side. For lace and nude-colored items, it is worth choosing a model in a natural skin tone.
Which garment size suits a female display mannequin?
It depends on the form's circumferences, so each model lists the bust, waist and hip circumferences. The torso in the average cut (88/68/97 cm) suits garments in sizes 36 to 38, and Lady Lean in the narrow cut (85/65/89 cm) suits garments in sizes 34 to 36. A larger garment can be clipped at the back with a clear clip, so the line at the front stays clean.
What is the difference between a display mannequin and a dress form?
A display mannequin is made of a rigid material and is intended for displaying a finished garment in a store, in a shop window or in photography. A dress form is covered with fabric, and you can stick pins into it, build patterns on it and check the fit during sewing. For designers and seamstresses, women's dress forms are suitable.
Is a display mannequin better in matte white or in a skin tone?
Matte white is a neutral choice that suits most clothes, and it does not reflect light from the store lighting or the flash. Skin tone imitates skin, so it is better for lace, semi-transparent fabrics and nude-colored items, which change shade against a white background.
Can I order display mannequins in bulk for a store or a chain?
Yes. We also operate as wholesalers, supplying quantities directly from import to stores, chains and designers, including help choosing the mix of models. For a quote, contact us. You can also pick up free of charge from the store at Kfar Giladi 15, Tel Aviv.
A torso or a full-body mannequin for a women's clothing store?
A torso suits shirts, dresses and swimwear, takes up little space and is convenient for changing garments. A full-body mannequin displays a complete look with trousers, a long dress and shoes, and suits a shop window.
How do you dress a fitted dress on a form without arms?
Put the dress on from the top, through the neck and shoulders, and pull gently downward. For a dress with a zipper, open it all the way before dressing.
How do I clean a display mannequin?
A soft, damp cloth with a little mild soap. Do not use abrasives, solvents or polishes, which could damage the finish.
Can I photograph products for an online store on a display mannequin?
Yes. The form gives the garment the shape of a body, and you photograph it against a plain background and in soft light. A matte finish is better, because it does not reflect light into the camera.
Where should I place a display mannequin in a store?
Near the entrance, in the shop window or at the end of a department, at the eye level of passersby. Leave space around the mannequin, so the garment can be seen from several directions.
